Pipe Fitting RFQ Checklist for Technical Procurement

This checklist turns a pipe fitting request into a precise record of fitting geometry, material route, end condition, connecting pipe dimensions, schedule or wall, dimensional standard, quantity, quality controls, release documentation, packing, and destination. It helps prevent ambiguity across elbows, tees, reducing tees, reducers, caps, stub ends, and forged connection fittings prior to technical confirmation.

Working method

Use the checklist to create a technical record before issuing the RFQ.

Working method

Four controls before technical quotation.

01

Product

Identify fitting type, quantity, end connection, and whether the order follows a standard or drawing.

02

Dimensions

Confirm NPS, OD, schedule or wall, bore, end preparation, centre-to-end data, and reducer orientation.

03

Material

State grade, UNS, product-form standard, traceability, and any project restrictions.

04

Evidence

List certificates, PMI, testing, witness requirements, marking, packing, and destination documents.

Technical checklist

What to make explicit in the order.

Elbows

Angle, radius, NPS, schedule or wall, and end preparation.

Tees

Equal or reducing configuration, run and branch sizes, wall, and dimensional standard.

Reducers

Concentric or eccentric type, large and small ends, schedule or wall, orientation, and centre-to-end.

Forged fittings

Pressure class, socket-weld or threaded end, size, material route, and standard.

Document controls

Release evidence should match the order.

MTC and marking

Connect finished fitting markings to the material certificate and applicable product standard.

Inspection report

State the dimensional and test evidence needed for the fitting type and project ITP.

Export packing

Define end protection, segregation, crate labels, document envelope, and destination requirements.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions.

Does NPS specify wall thickness?

No. State the applicable schedule, wall, or bore requirement separately.

Can a reducer be quoted without orientation?

Not safely for an eccentric reducer. State the required orientation or provide a drawing.

When are forged fittings used?

The project piping specification and connection design determine whether a forged fitting route is required.

Ready to define an order?

Prepare a technical quotation request.

Use the advanced RFQ to capture the component, material, standards, dimensions, inspection, documents, packing, and destination requirements in one reviewable form.
