Flange RFQ Checklist for Technical Procurement

This working checklist helps a buyer verify that flange material, type, facing, pressure class, size, bore, dimensional route, special machining, testing, certificates, marking, packing, and logistics information are visible before an RFQ is released. It is a disciplined preparation tool, while the governing project specification and drawing remain the source of acceptance requirements.

Working method

Use the checklist to create a technical record before issuing the RFQ.

Working method

Four controls before technical quotation.

01

Material

Confirm commercial name, UNS, product-form material standard, and whether substitution is prohibited.

02

Geometry

Confirm type, size, class, facing, bore, hub or neck detail, and mating connection.

03

Standard

Name the dimensional standard and drawing revision that governs the supplied item.

04

Release

List tests, documents, marking, packing, destination, and delivery requirements.

Technical checklist

What to make explicit in the order.

Material

Grade, UNS, ASTM or ASME route, heat number, and MTC requirement.

Dimensions

Type, NPS, class, facing, bore, schedule or wall, and drawing notes.

Inspection

PMI, dimensional report, TPI, NDE, project ITP, marking, and release condition.

Logistics

Quantity, preservation, packing, labels, certificate of origin, destination, and requested ship date.

Document controls

Release evidence should match the order.

MTC

Specify the certificate type and make it traceable to heat number and product form.

PMI record

Identify the scope and format needed for grade verification.

Packing list

Reconcile quantity, item description, marking, crate number, and destination shipping data.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions.

Should the flange facing be written on the RFQ?

Yes. RF, RTJ, FF, or another approved facing should be explicit and consistent with the mating connection.

Should I request a bore?

State the required bore or schedule where it is necessary for pipe fit-up or the project drawing.

What if the flange is drawing-based?

Attach the approved revision and specify all material, inspection, marking, document, packing, and delivery requirements not shown on the drawing.

Ready to define an order?

Prepare a technical quotation request.

Use the advanced RFQ to capture the component, material, standards, dimensions, inspection, documents, packing, and destination requirements in one reviewable form.
