Elbows, tees, reducers, caps, returns, and stub ends do not share identical dimensional availability. Confirm the exact fitting geometry before quotation.

Use the RFQ selector to state product form, NPS / DN, class or schedule, facing or end connection, testing, and documents for review.

Controlled size selector

Configure this alloy requirement.

Use the controlled NPS / DN conversion, then pass size, class or schedule, facing or end connection, and quantity to the RFQ.

Engineering discussion

Context before component selection.

Construction class matters in an A403 enquiry

ASTM A403 distinguishes fitting classes associated with seamless or welded construction and NDE. A complete WP304 request therefore includes the class designation, fitting geometry, wall schedule, end preparation, and any supplementary examination instead of asking only for an SS 304 elbow or tee.

Reducers and tees need complete branch geometry

For concentric or eccentric reducers, state both end sizes, schedules, orientation requirements, and end preparation. For equal or reducing tees, identify run and branch sizes and walls. These details affect manufacturability, dimensions, inspection, packing, and commercial comparison.

Keep forged and butt-weld fittings on separate routes

A butt-weld elbow and a socket-weld forged fitting do not share the same dimensional or pressure-class logic. Splitting them into controlled line items prevents the schedule, class, material standard, marking, and inspection requirements from being mixed during quotation and release.

Standards and release

Define the basis, then document it.

ASTM A403 / ASME SA403

State WP304 and the applicable seamless or welded fitting class. The construction and NDE class is part of the ordered product identity, not a documentation afterthought.

ASME B16.9 / MSS route

Define the dimensional basis for butt-weld fittings and state NPS, schedule or wall, geometry, end preparation, tolerance, and any drawing control.

Forged fittings

Socket-weld and threaded forged fittings follow a separate material, pressure-class, and dimensional route and should be listed as distinct line items.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions.

Why should an ASTM A403 fitting class be stated?

The class communicates construction and applicable examination requirements. State the exact project-required WP304 class rather than leaving it for assumption.

What schedule information is needed for SS 304 fittings?

State the schedule or wall for every end, including both sizes for reducers and the run and branch walls for reducing tees.

Should end preparation be included in the RFQ?

Yes. Butt-weld bevel, socket-weld, threaded, or drawing-defined ends must be tied to the correct fitting construction and dimensional standard.

Which release documents can be specified?

Define MTC, heat or lot traceability, dimensional records, NDE reports where applicable, marking, packing list, TPI release, and photographs as required by the project.
