Engineering discussion

Context before component selection.

Flange form is the first commercial decision

Weld neck, blind, slip-on, socket weld, threaded, and lap joint flanges have different connection and dimensional controls. State the exact form before comparing any 304L quotation.

Class, facing, and bore should be explicit

Pressure class, RF or RTJ facing where applicable, bore, and gasket interface cannot be inferred from the material grade. Include them in the request with the chosen dimensional route.

Document release follows the agreed scope

Inspection and certificate requirements should be attached to the ordered configuration, then reconciled with marking, packing, and final release documentation.

Standards and release

Define the basis, then document it.

ASTM A182 F304L / ASME SA182 F304L

Applicable forged Stainless Steel 304L flange products should be ordered against the specified material-product standard, grade, heat treatment, testing, and project additions.

Flange dimensions

State the applicable ASME dimensional standard or approved drawing basis, together with class, facing, and bore.

Quality release

List MTC, PMI, dimensional inspection, marking, packing, and document requirements where specified.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions.

Which 304L flange form should be stated in an RFQ?

State the exact connection form, such as weld neck, blind, slip-on, socket weld, threaded, lap joint, or an approved drawing-based configuration.

Should RF or RTJ facing be listed separately?

Yes. Facing, class, gasket basis, bore, and dimensional standard should be explicit in the flange RFQ.

What quality documents can be requested with 304L flanges?

State the agreed MTC, traceability, PMI, dimensional, marking, packing, and inspection-release requirements in the RFQ.

Technical quotation
